This is the opening game in the Ykkönen this season for both games. JJK got relegated from the Veikkausliiga last season and due to their financial situation they should have a difficult season.   (Read our: Ykkönen Season preview). KPV is the main favourite to go up. They have gotten some really good and experienced Finnish players and their only goal is straight promotion.

Even last season JJK had financial difficulties and they produced a huge loss. After their relegation they lost a lot of players from defense and offense and these players have not really been replaced. They also lost their head coach just before the start of the season so their new head coach Janne Korhonen has not had much time to prepare. They still have many players from the team that won promotion to Veikkausliiga 1.5 years ago so the core is ok. Unfortunately they have not had much money to strengthen around them and especially goal scoring could be difficult.

KPV is the biggest favourite for promotion and for reason. They have some money to play with and this season they have focused on bringing in Finnish players with a lot of Veikkausliiga experience like Ville Koskimaan and Patrik Poutiainen who actually came from JJK. They have a good balance in the team. They do have a lot of pressure to go up so if games do not go their way, that might affect them. Their owner might not be a patient man.

JJK: Pyhäranta – Abdi, Gustavsson, Kovaqi, Ali – Suoraniemi, Manninen A, Manninen M, Leppänen, Petrescu – Kari

With JJK having striker issues and KPV not yet fireing on all cylinders under 2.5 goals is the main pick.
