The fans from Helsinki and Lahti do not really like each other so the matches are always special between them regardless which sport it is. HJK is currently 2nd with 13 points from their opening 6 matches. FC Lahti is 4th with 8 points from their opening 5 games.

HJK has not been playing that well yet. They have a lot of offensive players and they have had a lot of rotation. Their signing of Amr Gamal has not been the best choice as he has taken some playing time from other players. Filip Valencic (most efficient player last season in the Veikkausliiga) has not been happy with the head coach and made things public which definitely does not help morale in the team. Despite this they did come back from 1-0 down in their last match against VPS to win 1-2. This was also the first time that HJK did not meet a defensive wall which they surely will find yet again here.

FC Lahti has had a decent start to their season. They were a bit tired in Rovaniemi but against KuPS they played well at least in the first half. They are a very solid defensive team which showed as they surprised everyone by playing with 3 at the back. They might do that also against HJK. They still allow the opposition to make chances but their goalkeepers have been able to keep the more dangerous efforts away from goal. The defensive efforts take away from the offense. In their last game, their goal came from a big defensive mistake. They have missed their striker Stenio who has been injured. In fact they have suffered a lot of injuries so the amount of points they have gotten so far has been good.
