The 2nd Northern Finland Derby “Jänkä-Derby” of the season. The first one ended 3-1 for RoPS. Last season RoPS won the first two games home and away and PS Kemi won the last one at home. Now the teams are tied in points (18) on 9th and 10th positions. The league is so tight though that the winner of this game will go 4th just 2 points behind a Euro Cup place.

PS Kemi was undefeated in 6 games until the last round where they lost 1-0 to SJK. Despite the loss, PS Kemi has been the surprise team this season playing with full confidence in a style that they like to play. They have really good players for a counter-attacking style of play. Filip Valencic has been excellent in that type of number 10 position where he has scored 8 goals this season. Their defense was criticized a lot in the beginning of the season for its inexperience and for making a lot of errors. Now though they have a good defensive midfield system that protects their defenders and the whole defense has taken a big step forward. PS Kemi will play with an almost full line up.

RoPS has been struggling with inconsistency all through the season. Much of it was do to their team being young and inexperienced but also due to many injuries to their key players. Now those players (Okkonen and Taylor) have been back and RoPS has been playing much better. They lost to VPS on a late goal after playing well the whole game. Against Ilves, their first half was really bad but they managed to keep the game there 0-0. In the 2nd half, they came with passion and managed  to get the winner. After the match, their head coach Juha Malinen gave a really good speech where he questioned the “fire” of some players and how they manage to lose it between and during games. RoPS likes to play by pressing the ball up high which requires a lot of movement. Because of this the passion is very important when pressing high up and then returning to defense if needed. Lets see if this speech has lit a fire up his players behinds.  From this match, RoPS will miss Aapo Heikkilä and most likely Lassi Järvenpää.

Starting line ups:
Kemi: Forsman – Laitinen, Kaljumäe, David, Mansally – Ojala, Jama – Karjalainen, Guevara, Salazar – Valencic
RoPS: Reguero – Addy, Hämäläinen, Tatomirovic, Väisänen – Okkonen, Taylor – Nurmela, Muinonen, Roiha – Eze

Both teams to score.
