This is will be the first match in charge for the new SJK head coach Aleksei Eremenko Sr who took over from Tommi Kautonen. SJK has struggled this season and are currently on 10th position with 7 points from 8 games. IFK Mariehamn is 8th with 11 points from 10 games.

SJK has had a bad season so far as many predicted them to be fighting for Top-3 places this season. This can of course still happen but the club has made many mistakes in head coaches and also in recruiting. They failed to get any wingers into the team which has cost their offense a lot. Now they will have a new man in charge and it should be a relief to the players and it can immediately boost confidence. The players are much better than their performances have shown so if they can find a suitable system to play and get the players motivated, they should still be in the fight for Euro Cup places at the end of the season.

IFK Mariehamn has not had much better season than SJK to be fair. They also started with higher expectations but their normally solid defense has been leaking a lot. Also their young goalkeeper Marc Nordqvist has not been at the same level as their previous number 1s in the past. They have conceded 18 goals in their 10 games which is the 2nd worst record in the league. Their offense saved them in a couple of games as their 14 goals is the 3rd best tally in the league. They have had problems with injuries to key players so that could be one reason, but still this group of players should play better.
