This is the penultimate game of the season and very important for both teams as they both need a win. KuPS is currently on 3rd position which would give them European cup football for next season but they hold this position only due to better goal difference on FC Honka. TPS on the other hand is 11th and on the relegation playout position. They are two points behind SJK and IFK Mariehamn with a worse goal difference and if they cannot climb above them in the final two games they will have to play a two-game playout against the team that finishes 2nd in the Ykkönen (KPV or HIFK).

KuPS has been in really good form ever since they managed to sign Reuben Ayarna to their midfield. He has been the balancing figure between defense and offense and the results have followed. From their last seven games, KuPS has won seven, drawn two and lost only to league winners HJK. At home they have a 7-5-4 record which is the 5th best in the league with a goal difference of 29-20. They beat Ilves in their last home game 2-0 and that was their first clean sheet at home this season.

TPS has also seen their form improved ever since they signed a new player. When Sterling Yateke became their striker the offense of TPS just suddenly clicked. Mika Ääritalo now was not their only goal scorer anymore and they were able to have more variation to their offensive play. TPS is 4-1-5 from their last 10 games with especially at home they have been strong. They beat FC Lahti in their last away games 2-5 but that was their first win away from the Veritas Stadium this season. They have struggled on the road this season.
