This is the 3rd match for both teams in the Veikkausliiga this season. SJK lost their opening game but beat TPS last weekend 0-2. HJK has won both of their games so far this season. At the start of the season SJK has been touted as the biggest challenger for HJK for the title. Last season the teams met 4 times and HJK won all the games without conceding a goal. The first two matches ended 6-0. Of course now, SJK has a new head coach and plenty of new players.

SJK team news:

SJK has not had the best start to their season so far. They lost at home against the biggest relegation candidate PS Kemi 0-1. This was followed by a 0-2 win over just promoted TPS. They scored both of their goals right at the end of the match. The match was also played on a neutral ground so TPS did not have a home advantage. SJK has changed a lot this season so these early season hiccups were expected. Despite that, they were hoping to have 6 points already now before meeting HJK. They have a lot of width in their roster but they do lack wingers. Especially as their only clear winger Billy Ions has been injured. They will need some width in order to have more offensive options if they wish to compete against HJK this season. SJK will miss Obed Malolo and Billy Ions from this match. Joonas Sundman and Jarkko Hurme are doubts. SJK will play 3 games within a week and this is the 2nd match so some rotation is expected.

HJK team news:

By looking at the results, HJK has started their double defense perfectly. They have made it to the final of the Finnish Cup and have won both of their games in the Veikkausliiga. Despite this, their game has not convinced too much yet. They only managed to overcome Ilves in the last 15 minutes thanks to an easily given penalty and in their last game, it took a special goal from Riku Riski to break the deadlock against IFK Mariehamn in a very even game. Of course it is a sign of a great team who can win without playing at their best. It will again take a miracle for HJK NOT to win the title this season. HJK will have all players available as Nikolai Alho has served his suspension.

Starting Line ups:

SJK: Aksalu – Mustoe, Tikkanen, Hatakka, Vales – Hetemaj, Ayarma – Tendeng, Laaksonen, Klinga – Mboma
HJK: Uusitalo – Jalastao, Vesiaho, Obilor, Pirinen – Mosa, Dahlström – Pelvas, Riski, Mensah – Klauss

The odds on the visitors are a bit too high. 1X as surprises can happen early in the season.
