Another big game early in the season. Both teams have been predicted to be fighting for medals this season so even these early games have massive importance. SJK, which has changed a lot this season have started with a 1-1 draw with FC Lahti and a 1-3 win over their derby rivals VPS. Ilves has so far played only once when they drew 1-1 at home against FC Lahti in a match with much controversy as their main goalkeeper Mika Hilander got a harsh red card and will miss this and the next game.

SJK is a very strong home team at their new OmaSP stadium. They lost their opening game there to HJK 2-3 last season but after that they have won 9 and drawn twice. After their last game against VPS, SJK has signed two new players when Efran Zeneli and Obed Malolo moved to the club. From this game SJK will definitely miss Matej Hradecky. Most likely Jarkko Hurme and Mehmet Hetemaj will also miss this game but they are close to returning. Both new signings and Marc Vales who missed the first two games are available.

Ilves is no longer the underdog in the league as the team has become stronger since last year. Mostly thanks to players who arrived from SJK. After last season Teemu Penninkangas, Tuco, Youness Rahimi and Aleksis Lehtonen all moved from Seinäjoki. On top of these players Ilves has Marco Matrone, Eero Tamminen and Felipe Aspegren who have all played in SJK previously. Needless to say that they will want to do well against their former club. From this match Ilves will miss their goalkeeper Hilander who is a big miss as his replacement will be 18-year old Luukkanen who made his debut in the last game in the Veikkausliiga. They will still miss also Teemu Penninkangas, Tariq Kazi and Antti Koskinen who are injured. New signing Iiro Järvinen though has recovered from his flu and is available.

Last season Ilves beat SJK twice, first in Seinäjoki (Not at OmaSP Stadium) and then at home in Tammela. The last match finished 4-0 for SJK at the OmaSP

Starting line ups:
SJK: Aksalu – Dorman, Hatakka, Bardanca, Tahvanainen – Hradecky T, Laaksonen – Ions, Klinga, Facundo – Mboma
Ilves: Luukkanen – Aspegren, Tanska, Miettunen, Hynynen – Ayarna, Siira – Tamminen, Tendeng, Rahimi – Tuco

We expect both teams to be in the fight for Euro Cup places at the end of the season with both teams having an advantage at home. SJK home record and the fact that Ilves will miss their main goalkeeper Hilander, tips the scale for a home win. The only small value bet is in both teams to score with 2.11. SJK again without Hetemaj and Vales is slightly weaker defensively and they have conceded in both of their opening two games. SJK offense at home is strong so they are expected to score against a 18-year old keeper.
