The league leaders and most probable title winners HJK will host IFK Mariehamn at the Telia 5G Arena. HJK has won their last 6 games in the league and are on the run with a 10 points difference to the next teams KuPS and RoPS. IFK Mariehamn has had a poor season and they are 8th with 12 points from 12 games.

HJK struggled a bit at the beginning of the season but has since improved. Despite the performances not being as good as last season, their basic level of play is high enough to dominate in this league. HJK is one of the best home teams in the league and they have won 4 and lost 2 of their opening six games. Recently their outstanding player has been the Hoffenheim on-loan striker Klauss who has scored already 11 goals. Seven of those have come in the last 4 games. HJK is definitely good enough to win the league, but if they want success in Europe, they will need to improve even more.

IFK Mariehamn has had a poor season. There is no doubt about that. The team has changed a lot, they have had injuries and their normally solid defense just concedes easy goals. Last season IFK Mariehamn had problems scoring goals. They were excellent in defense and they had one of the best home records in the league. They almost made it to Europe last season. They just needed a draw from their last game of the season, at home against Ilves or as long as FC Lahti did not win their last game. Well Ilves beat them and Lahti scored their winner against HIFK in added time. Now it looks like that that last round might have taken their confidence. The only thing that has improved from last season is their offense. They have scored 17 goals which is the 3rd best record behind the top two teams (HJK and KuPS). But they have conceded 22 goals with only PS Kemi having a worse record. Also their home record is really bad with only 2 wins from 7 games. They are a better team than this, but when you play with low confidence, bad results happen.

It does not help that IFK Mariehamn has never beaten HJK in Helsinki.
