This is an important match for both teams as they seek to play in Europe next season. The home side, KuPS has gotten themselves in good form this autumn by winning four of their last five games. They are currently on 3rd position and 5 points ahead of FC Lahti who are 7th. Lahti though has a game in hand.

KuPS has gotten 12 points from their last 5 games, but if you take a closer look, all the wins have come against teams who are in the bottom half of the table (Inter 8th, SJK 9th, TPS 11th and Kemi 12th). Also you cannot really say that they dominated in any of those matches with the exception of against bottom club PS Kemi. KuPS has also struggled a bit in their home games this season as from their 13 games at the Savon Sanomat Arena, they have only managed to win 5 of them.

FC Lahti has dropped to 7th position after no wins in their last 6 games (4 draws, 2 losses). Therefore this international break was very good for them as they have been able to train really well. Their biggest problems have been in their away games and especially in scoring goals. They have not won in six away games (4 draws, 2 losses) and they have managed to score only 3 goals in those games. Their defense has also not been as good as it was at the start of the season. Ever since they lost their main goalkeeper Vasyutin and central defender Jovanovic, the defense has missed a leader.

Both teams had players representing their countries during the international break so there might be some rotation happening here. If that is the case, then this will affect the home side more who missed Toivomäki, Karjalainen, Niskanen and Purje from their training squad compared to FC Lahti´s Estonian internationals Anier and Dmitrijev.
