This is the first match for both teams in the Finnish Cup Group D. Honka earned promotion through playoffs to the Veikkausliiga after last season. FC KTP failed to win promotion through playoffs to the Ykkönen but with OPS being kicked out, they will play in Ykkönen after a cabinet decision.

Esport Honka goes into the Cup with high expectations. They made it to the semi-finals last season despite playing in the Ykkönen and this season after their promotion they look even stronger. They have managed to keep the core group of players and on top of that they have added some quality into the team. They have already signed Zeljko Savic, Ahmed El-Amrani and Jonas Levänen, wingers Youness Rahimi and Mosawer Ahadi, and goalkeeperFelix Ferahyan. Their latest additions are spanish midfielder Javi Hervas and Serbian attacker Nemanja Obradovic. They have played two friendlies this season against their academy team and they won both 4-3 and 3-0.

FC KTP was preparing for a life in Kakkonen but had to quickly change their strategy after they were given a spot at Ykkönen. The team has strengthen from last season so they will get a good Ykkönen side. They might not battle for promotion but maybe for a mid-table position. Among new signings they have gotten former Honka striker Jean Silva, Matias Lindfors came from AC Oulu and Aleksi Pahkasalo who scored 16 goals last season in Kakkonen came from Legirus Inter. They are still lacking quite a few players and they signed 5 contracts yesterday with some youth players. They will now go to this match with 15 players.

The teams met last season in the Finnish Cup with Honka winning 0-2.

Starting Line ups:
Honka: Murray – Laevuo, Rasimus, Ivanov, Saarinen – Kaufmann, Perovuo – Korhonen, Hervas, Martin – Ömer
KTP: Särkkä – Manel, Pasi, Dolivo, Mahlamäki – Oksanen, Celik, Eerola, Pahkasalo – Lindfors, Jean Silva

This should be a clear win for Honka. Honka to win by at least 2 goals.
