There are two matches in the Veikkausliiga this Sunday 26.5.2019. Here are the match previews for IFK Mariehamn vs VPS and HJK vs KPV
IFK Mariehamn vs VPS 18:30 Wiklöf Holding Arena, Mariehamn
Bethard odds: 1.80 – 3.55 – 4.50
These two teams met just last week in the Finnish Cup semifinal in Vaasa with IFK Mariehamn coming out as the winner. Now VPS has a chance to avenge that loss, but it wont be easy as they are still looking for their first win this season and are currently 11th. IFK Mariehamn has not won in their last 4 games but are still 5 point ahead of their visitors on 7th position.
Last season the teams twice played a draw in Mariehamn and in Vaasa. VPS won once their home game.
IFK Mariehamn team news
Mariehamn started their season well but in their last four games they have only gotten 2 points and their last two home games have ended in losses to both FC Inter and KuPS. They are still a much better team than last season and they should be fighting for a Euro Cup place. Their last league game ended in a 0-0 draw away to Ilves. It was the first game where they failed to score this season. They have scored 15 goals this season which is the second highest behind Inter.
VPS team news
VPS lost at home to RoPS in their last game but had before that played six matches in a row as a draw. They are yet to win a game and because of this they are in danger of relegation. Defensively they are ok but offensively they have scored only 7 goals. Still though, their 0-1 loss to RoPS was only their second game where they had failed to find the net this season.
Main pick is both teams to score as there is a chance for a draw.
HJK vs KPV 18:30 Telia 5G Arena, Helsinki
Bethard odds: 1.30 – 4.95 – 10.50
Champions HJK sacked their head coach Mika Lehkosuo this week and they signed RoPS head coach Toni Koskela to replace him. They have played 8 games without a win and are 6th in the league at the moment. KPV has not won a game yet and are bottom of the league.
HJK team news
HJK lost to FC Lahti 3-0 in the last round and that was the final straw. Champion head coach and HJK legend Mika Lehkosuo had to go. Also assistant coach Jani Sarajärvi left the club. Koskela has a huge HJK background so he knows the team and the players very well. He is a good and safe choice to try and win the title still this season.
HJK has really struggled offensively this season as they have lacked a goal scoring striker. So far Mexican Bueno has not been good enough. Getting a new head coach should give them a boost but just like Koskela had with RoPS, they have a striker problem.
KPV team news
KPV is still looking for their first win. Their game has not been that bad and recently it has improved despite losing the win against Ilves in the Finnish Cup semifinals last week. They did come back in their last league game against HIFK to draw 1-1. In that match they played a really poor first half but in the second they turned the game. The quality though is lacking a bit and it will be difficult for them to survive in the league this season.
HJK should win this match under the new head coach, but they still lack offensively. Under 2.5 goals is available with odds 2.00.
