The Finnish Veikkausliiga continues this Thursday with two matches. FC Honka will entertain FC Inter and newly promoted KPV will yet again play their home game in Seinäjoki where they will host IFK Mariehamn.
FC Honka vs FC Inter 18:30 Tapiola TN1, Espoo
Bethard odds: 1.90 – 3.40 – 4.10
FC Honka has a chance to go top of the league if they can beat FC Inter in this Thursday showdown. Honka will want to return to winning ways on their home field as their season opener ended in a 1-3 loss to IFK Mariehamn due to poor quality of the pitch. Inter might be more suitable opposition as they also prefer keeping the ball on the ground. Honka beat Inter 2-0 in the Finnish Cup earlier in the season and they also dominated last season beating Inter twice in Turku. The match in Espoo ended 2-2.
Honka team news
Honka started the season as the biggest favourite to challenge HJK for the title. With HJK struggling this season, many see that Honka can even win the title this season. They have started also strongly as they picked up two wins from their two away games so far beating RoPS 1-2 and KuPS 0-3. Both of those opposition were ahead of them in the league standings last season so they were big statement wins. Their season home opener though ended in a poor 1-3 loss against IFK Mariehamn. The poor condition of their natural grass pitch affected their playing style a lot and IFK was able to take advantage on that better. The pitch should be in a bit better condition but still in no level as artificial pitches.
Honka will still miss Gideon Baah and Jonas Levänen.
FC Inter team news
FC Inter started the season with high expectations but so far the performances have been inconsistent. They play a lot like Honka and like to have ball control and to this the condition of the pitch plays a big role. Just like Honka, Inter plays their games on natural grass and the conditions for that grass has not been that good yet. Inter has played their best games so far on artificial turf when they narrowly lost to HJK 1-2 but beat VPS 1-2. At home they lost to SJK 1-2 but did earn a draw against FC Lahti in their previous game. Inter has just done a few training sessions this season on natural grass so this can affect them, especially as their next 5 matches will be played on natural grass.
Inter will miss Albion Ademi still in this match.
Main pick here is home win. Bethard having 1.90 odds for this. Another pick is both teams to score as both teams have good offenses that can score goals.
KPV vs IFK Mariehamn 18:30 OmaSp Arena, Seinäjoki
Bethard odds: 3.45 – 3.15 – 2.20
Newly promoted KPV is still without a win, but they did get their first point in the last game against VPS. Now they will face IFK Mariehamn who have a chance to go top of the league with a win here. This will be the last home game for KPV that they have to play in Seinäjoki. The next home games they will play at their own stadium in Kokkola.
KPV team news
The first two “home” games that KPV played at Seinäjoki ended in losses as both Ilves (0-2) and RoPS (0-1) took all the three points. Despite this, the performances have not been bad. Against RoPS they should have deserved something from their chances. In their previous game against VPS, they came back from 2-0 behind to draw and even a win would have not been unjustified. KPV plays aggressively and actively but still keeping their defense organised. They are a team who is difficult to beat, but still KPV needs a bit better offense to truly challenge in this league. IFK Mariehamn might offer them a chance for a win though. KPV has had a good half in all of their games. If they can do it for the whole 90 minutes, then the win can be close.
IFK Mariehamn team news
IFK Mariehamn has started their season really well as they made it to the Finnish Cup semi-final and also they have beaten two really good teams Honka and RoPS in the league so far. Also they deserved to get something against HJK in their opener, but two late goals gave the win to the title favourites. Still though, this game could be different. In all of those three games, their opponent expected to have ball control and IFK could just sit back and hit on the counter. Also both of their wins came on natural grass which suits their current playing style a bit better. IFK Mariehamn is definitely better than last season and should finish in the Top-6 but still this KPV game could be dangerous for them.
Main pick here is home win. Bethard having 3.45 odds for this. A bit safer bet could bet KPV draw no bet.
