FC Lahti signs new central defender Josimar Lima

FC Lahti announced today that they have signed former Cape Verdean international central defender Josimar Lima until the end of the season.

28-Year old Josimar Lima was born in Cape Verde but he got his football education in Holland where he has played in the Ere and Eerste Divisie with Willem II, FC Dordrecht and FC Emmen. He also had a short stint with United Arab Emirates club Al-Shaab in 2014. He has played five times for the Cape Verde international football team.

When he was young, he was part of the Feyernoord youth setup. He also got a Dutch passport which allowed him to represent Holland at the under 19 level, but after this, he chose to represent Cape Verde. Lima was a regular in the FC Emmen defense during the 2016/17 season but last season he played in only 6 games and was mainly an unused sub.

He is 190cm tall and will bring more physicality to the FC Lahti defense. He is good in opening up the game and he is calm on the pitch. Despite only scoring 9 goals during his career, he will still be a threat in set pieces. He should fit nicely to the FC Lahti playing style, which has lacked a clear leader in their previous games.
