Finland Veikkausliiga Friday 30 September: HIFK vs HJK
Finnish Veikkausliiga Friday 30 September:
HIFK vs HJK 18:30 Sonera Stadium, Helsinki
Odds 3.80 – 3.40 – 1.95 – Great odds on Veikkausliiga at Bet.RedKings.com
This is the last ”Stadin Derby” (Helsinki Derby) of the season and the stakes are really high for both teams. There are only 4 rounds left and HIFK is 2 points ahead of FC Inter Turku who are in the relegation playoff spot. HJK leads the league but IFK Mariehamn, Ilves and SJK are just behind within 4 points. To make things interesting, those are also the next opponents for HJK before the season ends.
HIFK comes into this match with 4 games unbeaten. They beat both PS Kemi and PK-35 Vantaa after some good performances. They also had a good defensive display against FC Lahti in the last round which ended 0-0. Despite their head coach Antti Muurinen preferring offensive football, HIFK in their last 4 games have conceded only 1 goal. HJK last played on Saturday when they lost the Finnish Cup final on penalties to SJK. The worrying part is that they have conceded 8 goals in their last 3 games and their performances just have not good enough what you would expect from a team who is the favourite to win the title. This will be a must win game for HJK but for HIFK, they might be happy with a draw.
The teams have met twice in the league this season with HJK winning once 2-1 and the other match ending 0-0. Overall the teams have met 7 times with HJK winning twice and 5 matches ending in a draw.
HIFK: They have all players available except Emil Conti.
HJK: Tanaka and Jallow are out for the season. Kolehmainen and Taiwo are doubts and Alho is still suspended.
HIFK: They are 2-2-1 in their last 5 games and 3-5-6 at home.
HJK: They are 3-0-2 in their last 5 games and 4-6-4 on the road. (Note, both teams play at the Sonera stadium so this is not an actual away game)
Starting line ups:
HIFK: Maanoja – Kuusijärvi, Aho, Pirttijoki, Vesala – Ristola, Väyrynen, Gela, Anyamele – Sihvola, Mäkelä
HJK: Dähne – Rafinha, Tatomirovic, Jalasto, Peiponen – Annan, Dahlström – Pelvas, Onovo, Odu – Morelos
We will go for HJK on this one. They have more experience and they know this is a must win for them. It will be low scoring though as neither will want to lose this. Maybe 0-1 with a Morelos goal.
