Last season´s winner and runner-up meet in a meaningless match to end the Finnish League Cup group stage.
RoPS – SJK 15:00 Arina Arena, Oulu
This is the final match of the League Cup group stages but there is nothing to play for anymore as SJK will win the group and go into the final. RoPS can get into to second place but it offers nothing so this can be considered as a friendly.
Both teams are still undefeated in the League Cup but too many draws for RoPS have kept them out of the Final. SJK has beaten VPS, PS Kemi and Ilves and drawn in their opening match with KuPS. RoPS has only beaten KuPS and drawn with all their other opponents.
Last season RoPS beat SJK twice in the league and once after penalties in the League Cup. SJK managed to beat RoPS only once at home. Overall RoPS has beaten SJK 5 times and lost 4 times with one match ending in a draw.
Even though this is a meaningless match, both teams will field strong line-ups. RoPS is testing Gambian international Mamut Saine and Eritrean international Nahom Gebru in this match. SJK will test Former Ivory Coast international and English Premier League player Abdoulaye Meite who has experience also about the Finnish Veikkausliiga with FC Honka back in 2013.
Starting line ups:
RoPS:Ricardo – Kalermo, Jammeh, Hämäläinen, Saxman – Saine, Okkonen – Pirinen, Muinonen, Gebru – Osei
SJK: Aksalu – Hurme, Kane, Meite, Tahvanainen – Laaksonen, Vasara – Tuco, Eremenko Jr, Kink – Riski
Both teams start with almost their best line ups with RoPS only starting top scorer Kokko from the bench. RoPS does not really have a home field advantage as the match is not played in Rovaniemi. The odds for under 2.5 goals is a bit too low so there is not point to play them. Lets play over 2 goals with 1.825 odds. With Eremenko and Riski on the field, anything can happen. Also the RoPS test players are possibly capable to create something. SJK should be closer to the win but no point to play them with these odds.
